Since his horrific vehicle accident in 2022, Rishabh Pant has not been active.
India is presently engaged in a three-match Twenty20 International series with Afghanistan. The assignment is currently on its final leg, and the final match is set for Wednesday, January 17, at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. A few days before the match, an Indian team traveled to Garden City and conducted a strenuous training session there.
A recuperating Rishabh Pant was seen having a lighthearted conversation with several Indian players on the pitch as they warmed up for the match, surprising the Indian players during the practise session.
For the uninitiated, the wicketkeeper-batter’s dismissal from the game he loves most was caused by a memorable vehicle accident on December 30, 2022. Though there were rumors that he might return for the five-match red-ball series against England at home, the young player’s road to recovery has finally come to an end as he is scheduled to don the captain’s jersey for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming Indian Premier League.
Notably, Pant is nearing the end of his rehabilitation, which was conducted at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The left-handed hitter has begun playing in the outfield to get match fit and return to his pre-accident form after spending time in the gym and rehab center. Indian cricket fans have been waiting impatiently for him to don the national jersey once more.
India wants to completely eradicate Afghans in Garden City.
The Men in Blue will think they have what it takes to completely destroy the Ibrahim Zadran-led team on Wednesday as the third Twenty20 international draws near. Afghanistan has nothing to lose and will try to defeat India in this format for the first time ever if all else stays the same. Of the seven games they have played, they have not lost six of them, and one ended with a “no result.”
India will travel to Hyderabad for the first Test match against The Three Lions, which will begin on January 25 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal’s recently renovated venue, approximately one week after the Bengaluru match.
